Orlando is fortunate to have a Veterans Affairs(VA) Medical Center under construction at the Medical City. State of the art technology that allows you to view lab results and reports on line and the ability to sign up for benefits such as MyHealthVet program are waiting our American soldiers. Under construction, the Medical Center is scheduled to open in 2012 with 1.2 million square feet and will be able to serve the more than 400,000 veterans in Central Florida. The Center will have 134 beds, 120 community living center bed and an outpatient center with a 60 bed residential rehabilitation program. The new facility will have two linear accelerators for radiation oncology, eight operating rooms, two cardiac catheterization laboratories, two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), two Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and three computed tomography (CT) Scanners. It will also have smart operating rooms with the “Wall of Knowledge” ability to display multiple parameters, images and clinical information. The facility will also have a radio-frequency identification system to track equipment and supplies.
